TRG KONI Drivers Take Top-10 at Miller
Salt Lake City, UT (September 18, 2009)- Fighting some tough competition against higher horse-powered cars, TRG's Duncan Ende, John Potter, Spencer Pumpelly, and Andy Lally drove a hard fought race to finish ninth and 17th in the Salt Lake City 200 at Miller Motorsports Park.
Known for its long straights and high-speed turns, the circuit at the Miller Motosports Park paid ample reward for cars with a lot of power, providing some challenge to Porsche teams. Despite this, the No. 39 DigiTrust Group/Adam's Polishes/Racer's Roast Coffee/TRG Porsche 997 was the "best in class" as the highest finishing Porsche.
"Spencer and I drove as fast as we could today" said Ende, who paid special attention this weekend to entertaining his guests at Racer's Roast Coffee. "With the elevation and heat, power here is everything, our guys did the best they could to get every thousandth out of the car."
Driving at his home track, John Potter and Andy Lally finished 17th in their No. 41 Magnus Racing/TRG Porsche 997. After driving an extremely strong stint, a rear sway-bar would break loose on Potter, causing handling problems headed in to his first pit stop. During a caution period, the team pitted and worked as quickly as they could to replace the detached bar, however they were unable to do it quickly enough to stay on the lead lap, and came out of the pits one lap down.
"I was really hoping we could have a good home race today" stated the Utah-native Potter. "If we could have stayed on the lead lap I think Andy may have been able to get us up to the front, but we had a little bad luck."
For Kevin Buckler, the team must look forward to the final race at Virginia International Raceway. "Our guys all put in a really strong effort today" stated Buckler. "Duncan and Spencer drove their hearts out, it's been impressive to see Duncan really come along this year. John always has fun at his home race and he is always so blazing fast here. He made a lot of effort to entertain the fans this weekend, and it would be nice to have had a good finish. VIR should be a better race for us, and I'd love to see one of our cars get another win this year."
