Amesbury, MA United States - 05/18/2004 - Turner Motorsport is leading three professional championships as they prepare for two more rounds of high-intensity racing starting this weekend. Will Turner and Don Salama lead the Grand-Am Cup ST class in their 2004 BMW 330i. Bill Auberlen is the current SPEED Touring Car points leader in his 2004 BMW 325i while his teammate, Dino Crescentini, is atop the SPEED Touring Car Rookie of the Year standings. No other team has simultaneously led championships in both SPEED World Challenge and Grand-Am Cup.
This weekend is round four of the Grand-Am Cup series with Turner and Salama leading the Championship in their #95 Turner Motorsport BMW 330i sedan. The duo has teamed up for two podium finishes in a row at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway. A fourth-place finish in the opening race at Daytona gives them three top-fives in the first three races. This weekend's 250-mile race is at the Circuit Mont Tremblant in Quebec, Canada. Salama won this event in 2002 wheeling a BMW Z3 Coupe around the 2.65-mile course. Tim Pappas and Jim Hamblin will partner for the second Turner Motorsport entry.
Bill Auberlen will be back behind the wheel of a Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW 325i on May 27 to start off the traditional Memorial Day Road Racing Classic at Lime Rock Park. After winning the opening round at Sebring, Auberlen leads the SPEED Touring Car Championship over Pierre Kleinubing. The Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs team has three drivers in the top ten with Justin Marks and Dino Crescentini occupying the fifth and ninth spots, respectively. Crescentini is leading the Rookie-of-the-Year Championship.
Team principal, Will Turner: "We are geared up for these upcoming back-to-back race weekends. My crew has been tweaking the cars in search of more speed. All that's left to do is continue to win and finish strong. We're leading Championships but that's not an excuse to relax. We're going to come back fighting."
