Fiorano will field two champions in Trois-Rivieres
TROIS-RIVIERES, August 1st, 2006 - Fiorano will take to the track with an all-star team at the Trois-Rivieres Grand Prix August 4-6. Champions Jean-François Dumoulin and Richard Spenard will take the wheel of the Fiorano prepared Porsche 997 Denon in the Grand-Am Cup GS class race.
For Team Director Giovanni Panico, it is the occasion to team up with drivers who shared a lot of successes with Fiorano. "It's always special to come back to Quebec and Trois-Rivieres, explains Giovanni. This year, I believe we will do it in style. Coming back with two drivers who won championships with us will be inspiring. Jean-François (Dumoulin) and Richard (Spenard) will compete in their own backyard, before their fans. I can't wait to see them defend our colours on the track once again."
Trois-Rivieres native Jean-François Dumoulin will take his fourth start of the season with Fiorano, a team he won a Grand-Am Cup championship with in 2003. "I'm really happy to drive with Fiorano again, says Dumoulin. Of course, there's the added benefit of doing it in my hometown. I had some great wins here, like my SRP2 win in 2001. On top of that, I'll team up with Richard Spenard, possibly the most accomplished Canadian driver ever. We both won championships with Fiorano, so adaptation to the team won't be an issue. We'll be able to start working towards the win right from the start on Friday (August 4)."
Richard Spenard, one of the most sought after Canadian driver in the industry, will take a break from his coaching duties to take to the track. "I'm always full of excitement when it comes time to race, explains Spenard. It's a passion; you can't help it. I still train a lot of drivers, but every time I can, I go play with the rest of the boys and girls. When the opportunity of driving Trois-Rivieres with Fiorano Racing came knocking, I knew I couldn't let it pass. I had a lot of success with their cars. On top of that' I'll team up with Jean-François (Dumoulin) again, who I know well. The master still has some stuff to show his pupils."
The Grand-Am Cup race will be held on the Trois-Rivieres circuit Sunday August 6. Fiorano Racing hopes to see you there starting on Friday August 4 for the first time trials.
