TED BALLOU: 2007 SEASON REVIEW
Winning Season Prepares Driver For Next Step
Petaluma, CA - November 10, 2007- When California-native Ted Ballou signed on with TRG to drive in the team's debut year with the Grand American Koni Challenge series, few could have anticipated what an amazing series of races were in store.
"After competing in series' such as the IMSA GT3 cup and various regional events, the step up to the Koni Challenge was a big move for me. It was TRG's first year in the series, but I knew they had a really good program in store" stated Ballou.
A good program indeed. Despite running against cars and drivers with much more experience than Ted, at the end of 2007 Ted can proudly look back on a season that accrued a number of highlights, such as: seven top-10's (in eleven races), five podium finishes, and most notably, a race win at the prestigious Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Despite 2007 season being both a rookie year for Ted and TRG, the combination beat out a number of accomplished Koni Challenge teams to finish eighth in the series standings.
"I promised Ted that with our team, and Andy as his co-driver, he wouldn't be disappointed" stated a very proud TRG team owner Kevin Buckler. "Ted is a shining example of a driver who came to our team determined to beat out all the young guns in the series, and through his intense focus, and our team's support of engineering and coaching, we all delivered."
One of the reasons Ted decided to join TRG was because of their extremely high profile driver development program. Utilizing the best available on-board data acquisition software and video, and coupling Ted with a stand-out co-driver like multiple Rolex Series Champion Andy Lally, Ted was able to help bring the speed which, combined with Andy and TRG strategy, put together such a huge number of 2007 accolades.
"I have to thank Andy Lally for everything he did for me in 2007. Andy is a perfect testament to what TRG brings to the table. Not only was he extremely positive, encouraging, and insightful, but we was whicked-fast to boot. Andy's efforts are greatly appreciated, and because of his help I feel ready to take on the GT ranks in 2008" stated an elated Ballou.
Without doubt, the success that 2007 brought for Ted is hopefully a sign of things to come as he takes the next step up to the Rolex Series GT ranks for 2008. With Andy moving on to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Ted will be coupled with TRG's latest team leader, Rolex GT race-winner Bryce Miller.
"I look forward to working with Ted in 2008," stated Bryce Miller, TRG's latest high-profile signing. "Ted's made steady progress throughout his career, and I really hope his success in the Koni Challenge can translate to similar success for us in the GT ranks."
With 2008 quickly approaching, and both Bryce and Ted already working closely together, the sky is the limit for the pairing.
"The Rolex GT category has been an extremely fruitful one for us over the last several years," explained Kevin Buckler, "Ted and Bryce have all the ingredients, and more importantly chemistry, to continue this success. They have big shoes to fill with what Andy and RJ have done together the last couple of years, but I know they have what it takes. We wouldn't have signed them on if we didn't."
