May 19, 2004; Baltimore, MD -- (www.teamlexus.com) -- Just confirmed. #2 Grand Am points leader and Baltimore race car driver, Marc Bunting returns to his successful Team Lexus roots this Sunday, May 23 in the Grand-AM Cup at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant, Canada. He will team with driver Andy Lally in a Lexus IS300 (Sport Touring class).
Bunting, a podium finisher in multiple series including Grand Am and Grand Am Cup, first experienced victory with Team Lexus in the 2000 season. He contested 10 Motorola Cup races in ST class Lexus GS400 entries; was class winner at Road America; and recorded a best finish of second at Watkins Glen.
Bunting's return to Team Lexus is significant due in part to Bunting's contributions to the Team's extremely successful 1999 to 2000 inaugural season, in which the Team secured four podium finishes in nine races and created a successful racing platform almost immediately.
In 2002 and 2003, Bunting drove for The Racers Group in the GT class of both the American Le Mans Series and Grand American Road Racing, recording seven top-five GTS finishes during his inaugural year.
The Grand-AM Cup at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant, Canada will be televised on SPEED channel, May 30, 12 PM.
