TC Kline Racing scores seven podiums and wins team Championship.
November 7, 2003 -- TC Kline Racing debuted the BMW Z4 in professional racing this year in the Grand American Cup Series, ST1 Class competing against such cars as the Porsche Boxster, Lexus IS 300, and Acura RSX. The Z4s were immediately a fan favorite with their unique styling and convertible top removed.
Drivers for the 2003 season included four-year professional drivers, Don Salama and Steve Pfeffer in the #12 Z4. The #92 car started the season with drivers Bransen Patch and David Tuaty who turned the car over to second year professional, Beau Buissan, halfway through the season. The drivers gave viewers much excitement throughout the year with numerous exciting battles for the lead and several tight finishes.
TC Kline, owner of the team, has a long history of setting up BMW cars for high performance on the track. It is appropriate that his team be the first in the world to race BMW Z4s professionally. "TC has an excellent reputation among the racing community. He understands how BMWs work and is extremely attentive to detail. So even though racing a Z4 was new to all of us, I felt comfortable agreeing to drive with TC Kline Racing knowing that TC would be doing the setup," said Don Salama, lead driver for the team.
The team first hit the podium in its third race with the #92 car garnishing a third place at Phoenix International Raceway. The twin Z4, #12, then reached the podium in each of the next five consecutive races recording wins at Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio. The team again achieved a podium in its tenth race at Virginia International Raceway marking its seventh of the year.
"BMWs choice to place the E46 3 Series suspension on the Z4 3.0 virtually guaranteed the roadster to be competitive in motorsports. I'm not at all surprised to see the car have so much success so early in its development as a racecar," commented TC Kline. "With the high quality of drivers we had this year coupled with our top-notch pit crew, we successfully proved the Z4 as a quality competitor in professional racing." The TC Kline team completed the season receiving the Team Championship Trophy.
TC Kline Racing is located in Columbus, Ohio and continues to be a recognized and well-respected name in racing as it has been for more than 15 years.
