Limoges and Walker team up once again as Nastsasi and Empringham look for another Mustang victory
Deland, FL (15 June 07)- With a schedule full of new tracks to learn, a new team, a new car, and a new series, Valerie Limoges had a lot to adjust to in her rookie Grand-Am KONI Challenge season last year. But with a year of experience racing the Blackforest Motorsports USG Sheetrock/Ramset Tools Ford Mustang FR500C under her belt, the Canadian has come to the fore in 2007.
Putting her experience to work, Limoges took a convincing pole position season and led half of the Homestead race in Miami earlier this season, controlling the field and the pace despite the high pressure from behind. Limoges will look to put in a similar performance this weekend at Mosport International Raceway for round six of the KONI Challenge Series as she teams with Travis Walker, of Mississauga, Ontario.
The KONI weekend will mark the first race for Limoges on the 2.459-mile circuit in Bowmanville, Ontario, but the Quebec native at least has some miles on the track and is expecting to get up to speed right away.
"I've tested formula cars there but I've never driven anything like the Mustang there," said Limoges. "But at least I know what to expect and it shouldn't take long at all to get comfortable there."
The last round at Lime Rock Park was one Limoges is looking to forget after a mechanical problem kept her from finishing the race, but her improved form has her anxious to get things going this weekend.
"I just feel much more confident in the car and a track like Mosport obviously rewards confidence!" smiled Limoges. "Travis (Walker) and I are working well together and he should also be strong at this track, so hopefully we can have a good weekend. My family will be there with me, and it'd be nice to have a good result for Fathers Day this weekend."
The stable of Blackforest Mustangs is a healthy one, as evidenced by teammate Tom Nastasi's having won the first three races of the 2007, including the season-opening race at Daytona with David Empringham. "Emp," who resides in Toronto and won this race in 2003, will once again join Nastasi as the two look to improve on their already impressive stats from 2007.
GS Class race will take the green flag at 1:15 PM on Saturday, with news, timing and scoring, and information available at:
