TMS Drivers Toughen Up Against Competition

MOSPORT, Ontario, Canada - 06/20/2005 - Turner Motorsport BMWs finished 4th, 6th, and 9th in this past weekend's 200-mile endurance race at Mosport Raceway in Canada. Justin Marks and Terry Borcheller led the race early on in the #96 Baker Sox/Turner Motorsport BMW M3 as did Don Salama and Will Turner in the #95 H&R Springs/Borla Exhaust/Turner Motorsport BMW 330i. Tim Pappas and Steve Pfeffer also ran strong in the early going behind the wheel of the #97 H&R Springs / Turner Motorsport BMW 330i.

Justin Marks and Terry Borcheller teamed up this weekend in the #96 Baker Sox/Turner Motorsport BMW M3. Borcheller substituted for regular TMS pilot Bill Auberlen who was competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Marks opened the race by moving up into the third spot on the first lap and then into second place a short time later. Marks pitted from 2nd place on lap 42 and the TMS pit crew fueled the #96 M3 and sent it back on track in first place with Terry Borcheller at the helm. Borcheller kept the M3 up near the front and into the top three until he was passed on the last lap.

Justin Marks, pilot #96 Baker Sox/Turner Motorsport BMW M3:

"Our M3 was great but on certain tracks with long straightaways the Mustangs just have a clear advantage. The Turner Motorsport team put together another great car and we used our advantages where we could - braking with StopTech, handling with H&R - but the speed deficit was too great to overcome on the backstretch."

Don Salama qualified the #95 H&R Springs/Borla Exhaust/Turner Motorsport BMW 330i on the second row and moved up to challenge for the lead before pitting for a driver change. Will Turner got in the 330i on lap 42 and was able to move up into second place and even lead the ST class before succumbing to faster cars.

Will Turner, pilot #95 H&R Springs/Borla Exhaust/Turner Motorsport BMW 330i:

"The BMWs were just out-gunned here by cars with more horsepower. Our BMWs were up to the challenge in the corners and under braking but that long straight was all the competition needed to get by us. Our next race is at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama and both 330s and the M3 will be a threat."

The #97 H&R Springs/Borla Exhaust/Turner Motorsport BMW 330i driven by Tim Pappas and Steve Pfeffer also climbed up the ranks and into the top three before dropping back to finish ninth - their fourth top ten finish of the year.

There will be no SPEED Channel broadcast of this race.

The next Grand Am Cup round of the season will be a 200-mile event at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama on July 30.
