Travis Walker has high hopes for home track race

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO Mississauga's Travis Walker has high hopes heading into this weekend's Father's Day Double Header at Mosport International Raceway. Mosport is where Walker started his car racing career, and it is also the place he calls his home track.

"This really is the big weekend for me," Walker said. "Getting to compete in front of all the fans at my home track Mosport is something I have waited for all year." For Walker's many fans, it is a chance to see him race live, as opposed to catching the race on television. "Having the support of the Canadian fans is something that really motivates me. I am going to do my best to put on a good show for them."

Walker has already had an exciting year. After leading Daytona in the Koni Challenge ST class, he made the switch up to the headline GS Class a few weeks ago after signing a two year deal with Blackforest Motorsports. This has promoted Walker to a new level in his professional motorsports career. He is now racing against the best GS drivers in North America.

"It is great to be at Mosport in the headline class for the Koni Challenge Series," Walker said. "The Blackforest Motorsports Mustang is ready for action, and I know this will be a great weekend for us."

Walker's weekend begins on Friday with a series test day, then he's back out at 8:30 am for practice on Saturday. Qualifying for the GS race is at 10:45 am, then the Koni Challenge GS Series race is at 1:15 pm.

"It is a long race," Walker said of the two and a half hour race. "I know we have a car to compete for the win, and to win at Mosport would be fantastic."
