Race Prep Motorsports Porsche Team Qualifies 3rd and 6th at Mosport

The Race Prep Motorsports Team crossed the northern border from their home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in search of their first victory the 2005 Grand Am Cup season on the fast 2.459 mile course in the Mosport 200. The No. 28 Porsche 996 qualified 6th and the No. 18 sister car qualified 3rd in a 33-car Grand Sport field. The team was able to prepare for the event only one day at home before hitting the road for the sixth race of the twelve race Grand-Am Cup GS class battle.

The fastest qualifying Porsche in the field the #18 with Spencer Pumpelly at the controls in a time of 1:30.448. The #28 was piloted by Tim Gaffney and posted at time of 1:31.108.

Following Watkins Glen, the Race Prep Motorsposrts team is only one point out of the top ten in the GS class for the Grand-Am Cup point's championship.

A podium finish would catapult the team up the standings.

A pleased Pumpelly said, "Car's are pretty good. The #18 qualified solid and we have a real good handle on the race. We really look forward to tomorrow. I'll be closing out the #28 car and Tim will start that car. The cold and breeze will make for good racing."

Unlike the 90 plus sauna at Watkins Glen, NY, temperatures are expected to be in the mid-60's and partly cloudy when the 59 GS and ST cars take the green flag Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Race Prep Motorsports plans to be at the top of the heap at the end of the 82 lap/200 mile war.
