BOWMANVILLE, Ontario- Automatic Racing returns to Mosport International Raceway this weekend for the Sunoco 94 Mosport 3 Hour Grand-Am Cup race. After spending the summer developing and testing their BMW E46 M3, the team is ready to be back in competition.

Mosport marks the first time that drivers Jep Thornton and David Russell have raced the E46 M3. They used the break in the Grand-Am Cup schedule to further develop and test the car.

Thornton and Russell feel that there is no better place than Mosport to debut the E46 M3 as their No. 09 entry.

"Mosport is definitely my favorite track. I love it," enthused Russell. "When you do a quick lap at Mosport, you know you've done something right. To go quick there you need to have a well-balanced car, precision and bravery. The track really rewards you, but it can be intimidating. It's the most demanding track I've ever driven. There is no room for error."

"The red car was starting to break last year," commented Thornton. "We had some problems with the motor and we were underpowered. I'm looking forward to going back with a car that's performing well. We're also looking forward to racing again after such a long break in the schedule. Considering there are 20 entries, it will be a good mix of cars and we'll have fun. We've got a new car and some new team members, so it's really a new chapter for us."

Thornton is looking forward to the performance of the E46 M3 at Mosport. "There are a lot of fast turns at Mosport and the car is very stable. It has good top speed, too, and you've got that long back straight. You can carry a lot more speed into corners than you could in the E36."

"Mosport will be good for our car," added Russell. "There's not a lot of heavy braking, and the corners are high-speed, which is where our car performs the best."

Qualifying for the Sunoco 94 Mosport 3 Hour will be held on Friday, September 12, from 3:35-3:50 p.m. for the Grand Sports classes. The race will start at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13.
