Penalties assessed following post-race inspection

MONT-TREMBLANT, Quebec (September 21, 2003) -- Grand American Road Racing Association officials have assessed penalties on two cars and have impounded a part from another after technical inspections following the completion of the Grand-Am Cup Series Mont-Tremblant 250 Saturday.

The ST II-winning HRPworld.com No. 44 Acura and third-place #43 Acura were found in violation of the rules. The No. 44 car was found with illegal parts. The No. 43 car refused to comply with the inspection after the discovery in the No. 44 car.

Officials have also impounded a part from the Powell Motorsports No. 11 Corvette. The part will be measured and inspected early next week to determine if it is within the legal specifications.

Grand American officials said that the results of the race will not change, but the offending entries will be penalized championship points, prize money and additional fines.
