Owen Trinkler New Jersey Race Preview
The RSR Motorsports team rebounded from a difficult first race at Daytona nicely at Homestead-Miami Raceway to have all three Mini Cooper S's finish in the top 17 of the 31 Grand-Am Koni Challenge Series entries. Of those, Owen Trinkler and team mate Randy Smalley, in the #197 Cruise America team car finished a solid 12th place and the car showed improvement each time out on the weekend. Trinkler states; "We had a strong run last race at Miami-Homestead, where we were able to fight back from a couple of setbacks and still get a top-15 finish. The team needed something good to happen and we'll look to continue that this weekend in New Jersey".
Owen and Randy have high hopes going into this weekend's round at New Jersey Motorsports Park, as the circuit suits the Mini Cooper S very well. Owen goes on to say "I enjoy the track at New Jersey Motorsports Park. It can be challenging, but we have had success there last year with a top-five finish. New Jersey is a real tight race track, so pit stops will be very important. We have run really well there in the past and have had extremely fast race cars. Hopefully, that's the case this week. We are running well in team points with #197 car and we just need to have a nice solid run and take advantage of any opportunities that may come".
The team has been working hard to develop the Cooper S against some strong competition in the ST class of the series, and is confident that hard work will pay off with the results on track. Owen Trinkler is very happy with the dedication the team puts behind his efforts as he mentions, "I know that Tim Marren and everyone on the #197 Cruise America team is committed to running up front and winning races this season, as such we are looking to start those winning ways in the coming weeks".
