Turner and Salama Lead; Pappas In Second
Mid Ohio Sportscar Course, OH - 08/10/2004 - The Turner Motorsport Grand Am Cup team lengthened their overall points lead after Will Turner and Don Salama scored their fourth podium finish of the season. Tim Pappas and Mike Fitzgerald brought the second Turner Motorsport BMW 330i home in fourth place and boosted Pappas to second overall in the Championship.
Will Turner, #95 Turner Motorsport BMW 330i:
"We've been right there this whole season. The Turner Motorsport operation has put in an outstanding effort and the BMW has done its part powering us to another pole position and another podium. To score two podiums on the same weekend but in two different countries and in two different series says a lot about the quality of a Turner Motorsport BMW. The #95 330i has not finished below fourth in any race this season."
Don Salama, #95 Turner Motorsport BMW 330i:
"The important thing to do is keep this momentum going. We've got four second-place finishes in the last five races. But we have yet to win a race this season. We know the TMS BMWs are capable of winning as Tim Pappas in the #97 car has one win this year. Our turn is coming up and we just have to stay on top of our game."
Tim Pappas, #97 Turner Motorsport BMW 330i:
"The results have spoken for themselves so far this season. With the exception of one race, our #97 BMW 330i has been a contender. Thanks to the TMS effort I've been able to move up in the overall Championship standings to second place with four races left in the season. There's still room to move up and that's where I have my sights set at."
This round of the Grand Am Cup series will air on The SPEED Channel on Sunday, August 15, 2004. The series returns to Homestead-Miami Speedway on September 10 for round seven. Turner and Salama finished in second place at the first visit there earlier this year.
