MILLER & TRAVER START FROM THE 6TH ROW FOR SUNDAY'S GRAND AM CUP RACE

(Lexington, OH-June 24, 2006) Going into this weekend's Emco Gears Classic Grand Am Cup Race at Mid Ohio traffic was going to be the major factor affecting the teams and drivers trying to make the field. Traffic and weather both contributed to a busy and interesting weekend so far. Thursday night, after a clear day for testing saw major storms roll into the Columbus area, causing quite a bit of damage and making a general mess of the Mid Ohio circuit.

Friday dawned to continuing rain, and a wet first practice session. Mikel and teammate Tim Traver managed some laps in the rain, finishing up in 13th place in a wet session that actually favored the lower torque, front wheel drive ST class cars. The afternoon session was drier, and Traver and Miller finished the session 4th fastest. Saturday had 2 practice sessions on the schedule followed by the traditional 15 minute qualifying session. In both practice sessions, Mikel and Tim managed to stay out of trouble, but had to contend with heavy traffic, limiting their opportunities for clear laps. The qualifying session saw Tim Traver in the top 5 for the first 5 minutes, and then a yellow flag came out, halting the session. Traffic seemed much worse in the final 7 minutes after the green flag came back out. Tim's time ended up 11th fastest on the day, with a 1:35.679 lap time (84.959 MPH).

Mikel is confident that Tim will be able to keep the Simplenet.com Porsche Carrera towards the front of the order until the pit stops, giving Mikel the chance to help bring the car home in the top ten.

"I think we have the chance to do pretty well in the race, we've worked on a lot of new things with our race setup, and they seemed to help in practice, and should really prove valuable in the race. I like the track, and have done pretty well here in the past, it will mainly be a matter of staying out of trouble in the traffic, and having a sound race strategy to keep us in contention for the win."
