Lakeville, CT: - Owen Trinkler looks to bring the #196 RSR Motorsports Mini Cooper S home in the winner's circle when the second round of the 2008 KONI Challenge Series wraps up at the historic Lime Rock Park. It can be said that the season truly gets underway now, as the first round took place back in January. Owen has done anything but stay idle though, as a tight schedule of testing and driver coaching keeps his skills honed, and his focus sharp.
RSR has been testing the fan-adored Mini Cooper S recently, and were very pleased with how the car felt, and are confident about its chances at the upcoming race. "The car just felt good all the way around." Says Owen. "I'm really excited about getting back into the real meat of the season. If we can come away from these next three races with top-ten finishes, that's going to put us in a really good position going forward for the rest of the season in our hunt for a championship for RSR Motorsports. Randy and the guys have put together a great car, and they deserve nothing less."
The entire team is going into this coming weekend with high hopes for a great finish. The field will be packed, with around 50 cars taking the green flag on the tight 1.53 mile road coarse, but the track looks to play right into the strengths of the Mini Cooper S, and the team is very confident that Owen and team owner Randy Smalley will be able to bring the #196 to the checkered flag in the top ten.
The 200-mile Sports Touring race takes place at 3:00pm EST on Saturday, May 24, 2008.
