Third Time is a Charm
- After running close to or at the top of the Grand-Am Cup Sports Touring (ST) class at Phoenix and Watkins Glen, Team Lexus looks to capture the first ever win for the new Lexus IS 300 race car this weekend at Mid-Ohio.
The No. 0 IS 300 ran in the top three at its debut event at Phoenix on April 20 before ignition problems ended the day early. Unfortunately, a similar problem plagued the car as it led the class at Watkins Glen on May 20. Driven by team owner Chuck Goldsborough and Terry Borcheller, the No. 0 IS 300 managed to earn a respectable fifth-place finish in a 16-car ST-class field.
Chuck Goldsborough, Team Lexus Owner/Driver: "We were so close at Phoenix and the Glen, I think we're looking really good for this weekend. The IS 300 is a really nimble and light, which should play well at this course. With it being a new car, we figured it would take three to four races to be at the front, and this is our third race - we think it's ready for the podium."
