This Week in Ford Racing
Larry Rehagen, partner at Rehagen Racing and co-driver of the No. 59 Ford Mustang FR500C, is preparing for the Grand-Am KONI Challenge season opener on January 23 in Daytona, Fla. His two Mustangs held the two quickest times at January Test Days and Rehagen hopes that one of his cars will be the first to enter Victory Lane for the 2009 Season.
YOUR MUSTANGS HAD THE TWO QUICKEST TIMES AT JANUARY TEST DAYS. "Test Days went really well. We couldn't have asked for much better. It pretty much went according to plan. We planned on going down there and being the quickest and that's what we were able to do."
EVEN THOUGH YOUR CARS SET THE STANDARD, DO YOU PLAN ON MAKING ANY ADJUSTMENTS BEFORE QUALIFYING? "We're pretty set for the race, I think. We're always trying to think of things. We're engineers, we're always trying to make improvements, but nothing big right now. I think we're pretty set."
YOU FINISHED LAST SEASON WITH A TON OF MOMENTUM IN THE NO. 59 WITH SIX CONSECUTIVE TOP-10 FINISHES. DO YOU THINK THAT CAN CARRY OVER TO THIS SEASON? "I think it can carry over. We did make some mistakes at the beginning of the last season. There were two or three races that, if we were running at the end of those races, we may have been able to win the championship with those points. We were really close and we just have to keep on going."
YOU HAVE SOME NEW DRIVERS WITH BRYAN ORTIZ AND ROBERTO BENGOA. WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE LIKE WITH BOTH GUYS? "We've raced against Bryan Ortiz before. He's run the Turner BMWs and he was really fast in those, so we figured he was going to be fast for us. Roberto, we haven't really heard of that much, but it looks like he's going to do okay, too. I think they have a decent shot of being right up there with us."
