Limoges fastest Mustang qualifier at Iowa

Newton, IA (21 April 07)- Entering round two of the 2007 Grand-Am KONI Challenge season, Valerie Limoges wanted to focus on her qualifying efforts. The quick Canadian promptly went out and scored the Homestead pole position and led a race-high thirty-five laps in her USG Sheetrock/Ramset Tools Ford Mustang FR500C.

Showing that the Homestead effort was no anomaly, Limoges put in another strong qualifying performance on Saturday at the 1.3-mile oval-based road course at the new Iowa Speedway, setting a fast lap time of 50.548-seconds to slot in on the fifth row alongside teammate Tom Nastasi, who has won the opening two races of the KONI season. The time was just a half second from the pole position for the thirty-three car field and was the quickest of the nine Ford Mustang GT's entered for the race.

"I'm really happy with the car here and it feels good to be the fastest Mustang but of course the race is what is going to matter," said Limoges, who will co-drive with Guy Cosmo. "I don't think I am doing anything different in the car but the results are obviously encouraging. We are going to have some work to do to move forward because this track is very tight, but we will see how this race plays out."

Limoges' Blackforest Motorsports teammate Tom Nastasi won the Homestead race in the sister No.5 machine with Ian James co-driving, and is once again sharing the driving duties with James this weekend in Iowa.
