Matt Connolly Motorsports Fully Stocked for Fontana

Bethlehem, PA - Matt Connolly is eagerly awaiting this weekend's trip to Fontana. Connolly is not only excited about having two cars on the track, but his behind-the-wheel lineup also drives his enthusiasm for the Grand-Am Cup race Saturday at California Speedway. "Last year we had one car but with such a growing interest from drivers we decided to do two cars this year. Now, for Fontana, several of our drivers have won races at a professional level. They are a great group and we are looking forward to having each of them in our cars," states Connolly.

In this weekend's race, Matt Connolly Motorsports will feature two BMW 330cis in the Sport Touring (ST) class. Behind the wheel of these Matt Connolly cars is a list of drivers who know what it takes to win at any level.

Starting off for the Matt Connolly No. 64 car will be 19-year old Tom Milner, Jr. For Milner, racing is in his blood. His father, Tom Milner, Sr., is President of another BMW team, Prototype Technology Group, who races in the ROLEX Grand American Series. This weekend Milner is ready to bring home first place for Matt Connolly Motorsports.

"This will be good for me to get more track time and experience in the car. The goal is to win the race in ST and to put in some good track time. It will be a good learning experience for me to race outside of my dad's team," states Milner.

Joining Milner behind the wheel will be Matt Connolly himself. Connolly was driver/owner of Villaconn, the 2001 Sport Touring class championship team. In 2002, the same team took nine podiums in eleven races. The past two years have been spent on team development and significant adjustments made to prepare for an ever-growing ST class.

Together in the No. 39 car will be Manny Matz and Brian Johnson. In 2004 Homestead, Matz took Sport Touring victory in a BMW, and placed fifth overall. New York native Matz has an incredibly extensive resume featuring experience in World Challenge, additional Grand-Am Cup events, and even extends to Motorola Cup. Johnson has won a total of five Barber Dodge Western Series races. He has also received the distinction of "Most Improved Driver" in 2001. This year, Johnson has already acquired some track time through the Barber Dodge series, and looks forward to driving with Matt Connolly Motorsports.

Matt Connolly Motorsports will hit the track at 2:45pm in the Grand-Am Cup 200 race at California Speedway. The race will be aired on SPEED April 16th at 12:00 PM EST and April 18th at 1:00 PM EST.
