Red Bull Porsche tops Rolex Series practice.

The #58 Red Bull Porsche Daytona Prototype of Brumos Racing turned the fastest lap during the opening day of practice for this weekend's Grand American 400 at California Speedway. The #58 Porsche clocked a 1:34.166 lap at 107.810 mph in afternoon practice to top the Bell Motorsports #54 Chevy Daytona Prototype's lap of 1:34.175 at 107.799 mph recorded in the morning session.

The Heritage Motorsports #48 Mustang was quickest in the Rolex Series GTS class with a 1:36.192 lap at 105.539 mph, while the Rennwerks Motorsports #83 Porsche topped the GT class with its 1:38.511 lap at 103.054 mph.

The Rolex Series afternoon practice session was cut short when Rennwerk's #85 Porsche, which had turned the quickest lap in morning practice, spun and hit the wall in turn two with Lonnie Pechnik at the wheel. The driver was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further evaluation following the accident.

TPC Racing Porsche quickest in Lexus Grand American 250 practice.

In Grand-Am Cup Series practice for Saturday's Lexus Grand American 250, TPC Racing's #18 Porsche was quickest on the day with a 1:44.420 lap at 97.223 mph in the early afternoon session. The points leading #119 Porsche of Doncaster Racing was second fastest with its late afternoon 1:44.654 lap at 97.005 mph.

TPC Racing also posted the quickest lap time in the Grand Sport II class with its #15 Porsche's 1:50.349 lap at 91.999 mph. TC Kline Racing's #12 BMW Z4 was fastest in the Sport Touring I class with a 88.932 mph lap in 1:54.154, while the HRPworld.com #44 Acura Integra LS topped the Sport Touring II class with a 2:02.494 lap at 82.878 mph.

Qualifying, Grand-Am Cup Race On Tap for Saturday

Qualifying for the Lexus Grand American 250 will get underway at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday, with the race beginning at 4 p.m. Rolex Sports Car Series qualifying for Sunday's Grand American 400 will start at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
