Doncaster Racing showed their speed when it counted - during qualifying. The GS class team sat second fastest after each of the three practice sessions but zipped around the -mile Watkins Glen circuit to take the pole for today's Grand American Cup race.

The Toronto teammates, Gary Wilkins and Robert Julien, were clocked in their Porsche at 2:15.564 for a speed at 90.289 miles per hour, 0.296 seconds faster than the no. 15 Frederick Motorsports' Mustang Cobra.

Shreiner Racing will start the afternoon race in third position in their Mustang Cobra. The duo in the Anchor Racing BMW M3 were fastest in two of the three practice sessions; however, a glitch during qualifying place them back in the 11th starting spot.

Powell Motorsport who has not had good luck with the new Cadillac CTS-V since its debut in the Grand Cup series did not fare well in qualifying and will take the green from the 52nd grid spot.

The ST class pole went to Bill Fenton Motorsports' Eric Curran and Bob Endicott. The no. 27 Acura RSX-S was clocked at 2:20.367 (87.200 mph) to easily best the second fastest team - their own sister car.

The no. 29 Bill Fenton Motorsports' Acura will start from second in class followed by the Radial Motorsports' Acura.
