Test Days Show Promise for 2008

Randy has just completed a three day official test for the upcoming Koni Challenge and Rolex 24 races at Daytona, January 25-27. The APR Motorsports VW GTis continue to progress as we work through a few bugs that have surfaced in these brand new cars. We ran in the top-ten in times; not bad for the new APR team. Randy is especially pleased with his co-driver Mark White for his sensible and thoughtful approach. He sets a good example for the sometimes over-exuberant Pobst; a good influence. The quality of the APR effort shows in that we have had several valuable tests to prepare the new GTi's.

It was an all-new experience stepping in to the Stevenson Motorsports Pontiac GXP-R. This car is fresh from the race shop, never having run before this Daytona test. Again, it performed very well. Randy did just a limited number of laps, as one of four drivers, and only driving for the 24 Hour. However, it only took a few minutes to decide he loved it. It has been very interesting to drive a car so much like the Pontiacs he has been racing against the past two years in Rolex GT. It has a big, torquey American V-8, and a soft compliant feel with lots of grip. Randy really enjoyed getting to know his former competitors as teammates, Robin Liddel and Andrew Davis, the Stevenson regulars this year, and fourth driver Gunnar Jeannette. Great guys all.

Things look good for the races thus far, Friends. Thanks for joining in!
