Sunrise, FL -- SpeedSource will have three new additions to the team for the upcoming California race.
The first addition is in the form of a new partner for the #66 Grand Sports I Mears Motor Coach / Champion / Fikse Porsche. Hello Arizona!, a destination management company, has signed on as a partner for the #66 entry for both the California event and the Phoenix event.
"We were in discussions with Hello Arizona! before the Daytona race," said Paul Mears, driver of the #66 Porsche. "We had such a strong race, with finishing fourth and with David (Haskell) getting the fastest race lap, that they decided to sign on for both the California and Phoenix events."
The second new addition to the SpeedSource stables comes in the form of a new driver to the team, Buzz Marcus. Marcus brings a wealth of knowledge to the team from his vast experience in SCCA and IMSA. A winner of many different forms of racing, Marcus will be joining up with David Shep in the #65 Grand Sports II Porsche.
The third new addition is a new member of the team, an 8lbs 11oz baby boy born to team owner Sylvain Tremblay and his wife Carol. The new team member, Alec, is already being taught the ins and outs of racing by his older brother, three year old Daniel.
SpeedSource will take six Porsches to California to compete in three different classes. In Grand Sports I they will be trying to regain the top level of the podium after winning two of the last three races in the top class. In Grand Sports II, they will be defending their 2001 Triple Crown Championship with a two car lineup. In the Sports Touring I class, the team will field two Porsche Boxsters in hopes of giving Porsche its first professional win with the Boxster in North America.
