North Canton, OH -- John Wymore, a longtime driver with the team, is welcomed back as the team takes to the high banks of California Speedway.
Wymore joined the team in 1995. In 1999, Wymore just barely missed out on winning the Championship to his teammates, Wayne and Will Nonnamaker. Wymore scored five podiums in 1999 and finished third in the Championship.
"We are all very excited to welcome John back to the mix," said Team Manager, Bill Pate. "John was instrumental in our 1999 campaign, and I know he will be a strong asset this year. With Wymore and (his co-driver) Tony (Nuzzo), we have some high expectations for this race."
Wymore will join Tony Nuzzo in the #42 King Motorsports Acura Integra LS. Nuzzo ran in the top four for the first hour at the season opener at Daytona International Speedway, and eventually finished sixth with co-driver Don Velcio. Finishing second at the season opener were Will and Wayne Nonnamaker in the #41 King Motorsports Acura Integra.
"Second was a good start to the season," said Wayne. "You can't win every race, but if any team was going to beat us, we were happy it was Fenton Motorsports. As past Champions, they are worthy competitors, and with them winning and us finishing second, we have now built a strong lead up in the Manufacturer's Championship for Acura, and that is what it is really all about."
The California Grand Am Cup race will be 250 miles long or three hours long, whichever comes first. Just after the Grand Am Cup race is over, the Indy Racing League cars will be taking to the track for their third race of the year.
