Currently sitting in second place in Team Championship Points for the GS Class of the Koni Challenge Series, Rehagen Racing enter into this weekends' event at Barber Motorsports Park with a great deal of momentum. The team came off a very successful weekend at Watkins Glen that saw two of the teams entries finish in the Top-5 and continue their run of strong results on the 2008 racing season.
In an effort to continue moving the program forward, the team this weekend will be turning to a newcomer to propel the #52 entry up the charts from its 14th position in the Championship. That newcomer is none other than up- and-coming Koni ST Driver Dion von Moltke on loan from the APR team for the weekend as the ST class is taking time off to prepare for their next round. Season driver Ray Mason is "Looking forward to seeing what Dion can do in the Mustang, I really enjoy working with the younger drivers that are coming up through the sport and helping with their career development any way I can."
Team Principle Dean Martin is also anxious to get Dion behind the wheel, "We're really looking forward to Dion getting into the #52 Columbus Truck/Roush Performance Product Mustang GT." Martin continues; "Dion has shown tremendous talent in the ST cars and we're looking forward to seeing how he handles the power of the GS Mustang, we expect he'll do very well."
The last round of the Koni Challenge showed exactly what Dion was capable of as he moved his car from 46th starting position in the ST class up to 8th before turning over to his co-driver to put his abilities on display. This is in fact Dion's first run at the GS class cars, although he has tested some of the more powerful Rolex GT cars in the past with strong results. Dion is certainly looking at this opportunity as a natural progression, "This is an exciting step in my racing career. Now that I have had solid runs in the ST class, I feel I am ready to step up to GS this weekend at Barber, while APR Motorsport prepares for Iowa. I am pleased to be driving for Rehagen Racing, they have a good reputation in the sport and their Mustangs have been consistently strong. I'm looking forward to very positive results, and feel that Ray Mason and I will be the right combination to make that a reality."
