Al Carter and Hugh Plumb are heading to Mid-Ohio for the EMCO Gears Classic, 5th round of the 2012 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, second in points. The last B+ Heroes 200 presented by BCKSTGR race at New Jersey Motorsports Park was tough for the team that had to overcome two "stop and go" penalties and strong competition to finish 5th at the end.
Carter and Plumb have scored three top five finishes in the first four races including a podium finish at Barber which allows them to be right in the middle of the 2012 championship hunt.
The Fall-Line Motorsports BMW team came to Mid-Ohio last week to test their M3s including the 45 B+ Foundation - Jetset Magazine machine. The test went well and the 45 B+ Foundation team is aiming forward for another strong performance in Ohio on Saturday.
The B+ Foundation car finished 5th last year at Mid-Ohio and their Fall-Line Motorsports team engineers worked hard to find the right set-up to perform at their peak once again.
Al Carter has done a great job so far this season and he too knows that one of the most important parts of next Saturday's result to maintain a top three championship ranking is to score maximum points. "Given some of the racing luck our B+ Foundation - Jetset Magazine BMW has encountered through the first part of the season, its hard to believe we and our 48 Fall-Line teammates are 1-2 in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge point standings," stated Carter. "Hugh Plumb has also been driving his butt off coming from behind to garner our 45 BMW some decent results in the late stages of the last couple of races, but our positioning in the points is really a testament the strength of Fall-Line Motorsports as a team. We'll all head to Mid-Ohio and continue to focus on consistency" said Al Carter.
With four podium finishes in three different racing series at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, former Mid-Ohio World Challenge race winner Hugh Plumb is ready to score another strong result in the Buckeye State. "I am looking forward to Mid Ohio," announced Hugh Plumb. I feel our entire Fall-Line Motorsports team is operating at full potential to score maximum points. Al Carter and I are looking to score maximum points in Ohio to stay in the top three in the championship" said Plumb.
The EMCO Gears Classic at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course starts with a promoter test day scheduled for Thursday. Carter and Plumb will already be in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, to promote The B+ Foundation and create awareness for the fight against childhood cancer. Like they did in 2011, the two B+ racing drivers will meet some children and their families at the Nationwide Children's Hospital hematology/oncology/bmt unit.
