A guide to the Dark Dog Grand American finale at Daytona Speedway.

What's The Dark Dog Grand American Finale
The Daytona Speedway will host its second straight weekend of sports car racing with the Dark Dog Grand American Finale. The Dark Dog Grand American Finale on Nov. 8-10 features the season finales for both the Rolex Sports Car Series and the Grand-Am Cup. The Rolex Sports Car Series' finale will be a three-hour enduro on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. and will be televised live on the SPEED Channel. The Grand-Am Cup finale will be a six-hour enduro on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2:30 p.m. and will be shown tape delayed on SPEED Channel on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m. The two finales will be the last chance for sports car teams to earn points toward their Grand American Road Racing Series championships.

Tight Point Chases
The most intriguing points battle to watch comes from the SportsRacing Prototype class in the Rolex Sports Car Series. Driver Didier Theys leads rookie Chris Dyson by only nine points in the championship point standings. Theys, who won the Rolex 24 At Daytona at the start of the season, must finish in at least fourth place in order to hold onto the championship should Dyson take the victory during Sunday's three-hour enduro. Should Dyson prove victorious and Theys finish in fifth place, the two drivers will be tied with 318 points each. The championship would be decided by a tiebreaker in which Dyson would get the nod for having the most victories in the season. Dyson would have five wins to Theys' four in 2002. The SRP team championship race is even closer as the Doran Lista Racing No. 27 Judd-powered Dallara holds a narrow five-point lead over the Dyson Racing Team's No. 16 Ford-powered Riley & Scott. If Dyson's No. 16 Ford scores a victory in the Dark Dog Grand American Finale, Doran Lista must finish in second place in order to secure the team championship. A third-place finish by the team would result in a tie, where Dyson Racing would be awarded the championship in a tiebreaker.

The Daytona Prototype Is Here Too
The Dark Dog Grand American Finale will offer sports car fans their first chance to see the new Daytona Prototype, which will be the new premier class in next year's Rolex Sports Car Series. The sleek and stylish Daytona Prototype will only participate in the Nov. 6-7 test days before the start of the Dark Dog Grand American Finale. The Daytona Prototype will test on Wednesday, Nov. 6 between 10 a.m.--10:50 a.m. and 2:35 p.m.-3:20 p.m. On Thursday, Nov. 7, the Daytona Prototype will take to the track between 8:45 a.m.-9:30 a.m. and 4:05 p.m.-4:35 p.m. The test days are free and open to the public with access through the lobby of DAYTONA USA. The first race for the new Daytona Prototype will be the Feb. 1-2 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Other Things To Do
There will be an import car show on Saturday, Nov. 9 in the speedway's driver/owner motor home lot and an autograph session featuring Grand American Road Racing Series competitors on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Infield Media Center.

If You Want To Go
The best way to take part in the Dark Dog Grand American Finale is to purchase an Advance Super 3-day ticket (not good for hot pits) for infield/paddock/garage/free car parking for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Advance Super 3-day ticket is $60 and must be purchased by Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. The Speedway ticket office number is (386) 253-7223.
