91. TIME 12:12 a.m. RUNNING - #3 with Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the wheel overtakes #24 for the 5th-place spot overall (2nd in GTS class). #16 lead over #12 cut to three laps due to extra time for adjustments in pit lane during caution.

92. TIME 12:20 a.m. RUNNING - #3 with Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the wheel comes into the pits for what appears to be a transmission swap. #20 is making shifter mount repairs.

98. TIME 12:41 a.m. RUNNING - #3 puts Dale Earnhardt Jr. back in car believing the transmission replacement is complete, but still is unable to leave the pits. Crew believes it is the half shaft. Earnhardt Jr. reported transmission problems when he came into the pits, and crew believes his inexperience in cars with half shafts might have caused him to relay incorrect information.

117. TIME: 2:55 RUNNING - #20 is still in garage. Replacing input shaft. Leader #16 in for fuel and tires. Switching to rains as the rain has begun to fall again in earnest. #12 in for rains. #41 off and being towed back. #25 off and continues.

119. WEATHER UPDATE 2:59 a.m. - Heaviest rain yet of race. Most cars coming in for tire change. Those that aren't are spinning.

120. TIME 3:00 a.m. - RUNNING - #2 and #3 Corvettes in for tire changes.

121. TIME 3:20 a.m. - RUNNING - #12 driver change. McNish in.

122. TIME 3:30 a.m. - RUNNING - #74 has dropped down to the bottom of the track. With Baldwin onboard, the car is underpower, but moving very slowly back toward the pit. The crew has already indicated they will go back to the garage if he makes it around.

123. TIME 3:40 a.m. - RUNNING - Leader #16 driver change. Leitzinger in.

124. CLASS LEADERS - 3:55 a.m. - SRP and overall - #16; GTS - #2 (3rd overall); GT - #31 (4th overall); SRPII - #22 (7th overall); AGT - #11 (27th overall).

125. CLASS LEAD MARGINS TIME 4:15 a.m. - SRP - #16 over #12 - four laps; GTS - #2 over #01 - 22 laps; GT - #31 over #54 - less than one lap; SRPII - #22 over #21 - 19 laps; AGT - #11 over #09 - 16 laps.

126. WEATHER UPDATE TIME 4:45 a.m. - The rain had begun to subside and several teams were preparing to go back to slick tires when the rain again began to fall more steadily. As it did a couple of hours ago, the rain was intense enough that all cars had to stay on rain tires to navigate the track.

127. TIME 4:45 a.m. - RUNNING - The #20 car came back to the track after a very lengthy stop of over two hours. During this hour #12 came in and while in began overheating. It has gone behind the wall with steam and water spewing from the engine. The #22 car has spent considerable time in the pit with a major mechanical problem. The #22 is about to lose its SRPII class lead to its teammate #21. The #01 Porsche has dropped back from second in the GTS ranks to third with the #3 Corvette moving up to second behind the #2 car.

128. TIME 5:10 a.m. RUNNING - Leader #16 into pit and received a new nose piece. The crew added tape to the nose to help warm the engine. They couldn't put it on the wet nose on the car, so they dried off another and taped it before Leitzinger brought in the car. He stayed in and resumed after a very brief stop.

129. CLASS LEADERS 5:15 a.m. - SRP and overall - #16; GTS - #2 (third overall); GT #54 (fourth overall); SRPII - #21 (17th overall); AGT - #11 (28th overall).

130. TIME 5:16 a.m. - FULL COURSE YELLOW - Full course yellow came out when #18 went into the wall on the backstretch.

131. TIME 5:23 a.m. - CARS OUT OF RACE - The #12 car is still ranked third overall, but it has been withdrawn and will not return. The cars out of the race to this point are #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #12, #15, #17, #27, #28, #36, #38, #42, #47, #48, #76, #78, #80, #83, #91, #92, #95, #02.

132. TIME 5:25 a.m. - #12 Risi Competitione explained that high oil temperature while in their scheduled pit stop led them to take the car behind the wall. They hoped to make repairs, but have determined that is not going to be possible.

133. TIME 5:27 a.m. - #16 is reporting too low an engine temperature. The car is running at about 120 degrees when it should be running at over 200. Crew Chief Pat Smith has not been able to determine what else can be done to raise the temperature to the normal level.

134. TIME 5:32 a.m. - The green flag has come back out after a 16 minute caution period.

135. TIME 5:55 a.m. CLASS LEAD MARGINS - SRP - #16 over #12 - 36 laps; GTS - #2 over #3 - 21 laps; GT - #54 over #31 - three laps; SRPII - #21 over #22 - six laps; AGT - #11 over #09 - 10 laps. 136. TIME 6:00 a.m. RUNNING - #3 in for driver change. Earnhardt Sr. in. Rain lightened up track still very wet.

137. TIME 6:14 a.m. RUNNING - #18 retires due to broken nose and radiator.

BROKEN RECORDS - Four class records for the fastest race lap have been broken during the race. #12 broke the SRP & overall record on lap 64 with a lap time of 1:41.875. #89 broke the SRPII record on lap 7 with a lap time of 1:51.595. #54 broke the GT record on lap 200 with 1:53.806. #44 broke the AGT record on lap 26 with 1:54.206.

141. TIME 6:48 a.m. RUNNING - #68 completes cooling system repairs and leaves pits. GT-leader #54 smoking from the rear, with oil suspected. GTS-leader #2 pits for driver change with Chris Kneifel going in.

142. TIME 7:00 a.m. RUNNING - #31 takes over 3rd-place overall and 1st-place in GT class, as #54 remains in pits looking for oil leak.

143. TIME 7:02 a.m. RUNNING - #3 pits for tires and fuel, with Dale Earnhardt staying in the car. #54 returns to track after fixing oil leak in pits. Long pit dropped #54 to 2nd in GT class and 4th overall.

144. TIME 7:07 a.m. RUNNING - #54 returns to pits with oil leak persisting, goes behind the wall, and crew says they will not return. #22 spins out going up the banking and hits the wall, with #09 gets into him. #22 was in second-place in the SRPII class. Both cars being taken to the garages.

145. TIME 7:16 a.m. RUNNING - #3 moves into 4th-place overall and remains in 2nd-place in GTS class due to #54 troubles. Dale Earnhardt remains behind the wheel of #3.

146. LEADERS - 7:17 a.m. - #16 with 537 laps; #2 (24 laps down); #31 (39 laps down); #3 (45 laps down); #86 (46 laps down)

TIME 7:20 a.m. RUNNING - #96 granted permission to go behind the wall. #67 Team Seattle car 86 laps away from $1 million mark of fund raised for children's hospital. #16 pits for driver change putting James Weaver in and taking Andy Wallace out. #43 brought into pits with loose bodywork. Car, with Kyle Petty as one of its drivers, is currently in 11th-place overall and 7th in GT class.

151. TIME 7:51 a.m. RUNNING - Third-place SRP #74 goes behind the wall. #3 pits for driver change putting in Kelly Collins and taking out Dale Earnhardt. 152. TIME 8:06 a.m. RUNNING - #89 stopped at turn six and is being towed in. #65 granted permission to go behind the wall.

153. CORRECTION - LAP RECORDS - An earlier item (#138, page 16) included a partial listing of times quicker than the track records set last year in Grand-Am's inaugural season. The new overall and SRP record was correctly listed as being set by Risi Competitione at 1:41.875, as was the GT record of 1:53.806 set by #54 Jet Motorsports. The SRP race record has actually been bettered by six cars with TRP Racing having the quickest lap so far in the race at 1:49.621 on lap 35. In the AGT class, two cars have been quicker than last year with #44 Team Amick the fastest at 1:54.206.

154. TIME 8:45 a.m. RUNNING - The #65 car is in the garage replacing a throw-out bearing. The team expects to reenter the race. The #2 Corvette came in for a driver change with Franck Freon taking the controls.

155. TIME 8:50 - CLASS LEAD MARGINS - SRP - #16 over #63 - 67 laps; GTS - #2 over #3 - 20 laps; GT #31 over #86 - three laps; SRPII - #21 over #89 - 32 laps; AGT - #11 over #44 - 12 laps.

156. TIME 8:52 - RUNNING - GT-leader and third-place overall #31 car came into the pits for a scheduled stop. Changed drivers to Christian Menzel and made a sway bar adjustment in order to make the car easier to drive.

157. ALL COURSE CAUTION - 9:00 a.m. - #07 gets flat right rear causing him to hit the wall near pit end. Debris left between turn one and the tri-oval. #3 pits for fuel and tires only.

158. TIME 9:05 a.m. CAUTION - #74 pits for driver change with Buddy Lazier going in. #74 granted permission to go behind the wall at 9:10 a.m. Crew reporting an engine is missing. Driver is remaining in the car, and they hope to return soon. Some cars go to slicks during pits. Caution ended at 9:11 a.m.

159. TIME 9:20 a.m. RUNNING - Light rain begins again. #57 brought into pits for dragging something.

160. TIME 9:26 a.m. CARS OUT UPDATE - 29 cars have turned in their transponders, signaling the end of their race. The cars are #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #12, #15, #17, #18, #27, #28, #36, #38, #42, #47, #48, #54, #76, #78, #79, #80, #83, #89, #91, #92, #95, #01, #02, #06.

161. TIME 9:33 a.m. RUNNING - Leader #16 blows a motor in turn three with Butch Leitzinger at the wheel. Crew chief Pat Smith says they will not be able to return to the race. #16 and #20 team owner Rob Dyson was in the #20 when the #16's motor blew. Despite having a rule of his own of not radioing about other car, Dyson called in to check on #16 and pitted to come out of #20 on next lap. #66 comes into pits for a tape repair to the left front body.

162. TIME 9:40 a.m. RUNNING - Calculated that #2 will take the lead in approximately 50 minutes (around 10:30 a.m.) if it maintains current speed.

Crew reports they cannot see out of the back windows due to the humidity. They are attempting to come up with a remedy and fix the radio.

166. TIME 10:20 a.m. RACING - #44 goes into the tires and wall on pit exit with Joe Varde at the wheel. Car is being towed and retires from race. #3 has slowed tremendously and is going around on apron. Comes into the pits with a broken drive shaft, which is repaired in the pits with the driver Andy Pilgrim still in the car.

167. TIME 10:28 a.m. RACING - #86 takes over the 4th-place overall spot while #3 is in the pits for repair.

168. TIME 10:31 a.m. RACING - #2 takes over the lead from the #16 on lap 599. #3 rejoins the race from the pits with Andy Pilgrim still at the wheel.

169. LEADERS - 10:39 a.m. - #2 (completed 601 laps), #16 (2 laps down), #31 (18 laps down), #86 (22 laps down), #3 (26 laps down), #56 (29 laps down), #01 (31 laps down), #43 (36 laps down), #81 (37 laps down), #39 (38 laps down)

170. FULL COURSE CAUTION - 10:47 a.m. - #52 into the wall in the infield. Caution ends at 10:59 a.m.

171. TIME 11:07 a.m. - RUNNING - #21 changed drivers to Andy Lally, the most experienced driver on the team. The #21 car is missing first gear, which affects how the car handles in the turns.

172. TIME 11:12 a.m. - RUNNING - #44 Team Amick Motorsports Corvette's front suspension broke. Joe Varde was driving the car at the time of incident. In order for car to return to race, nose assembly would need to be replaced. However, the team used the spare earlier in the race.

173. TIME 11:17 a.m. - RUNNING - #31 passed #16 and took over second place. Among the top 10 cars, there are three GTS cars, six GTs, and the lone #16 SRP car, which will likely drop out of the top ten by the end of the race. This leaves #63 Downing Atlanta as the SRP class' only hope for a top ten finish. The #63 car currently sits twelfth, three laps behind tenth place.

174. TIME 11:26 a.m. - RUNNING - #20 in for driver change. Papis out, Dyson in. #26 in the pits with no power. The car is going behind the wall with gearbox trouble.

175. TIME 11:35 a.m. - RUNNING - #3 in for fuel and tires only. As #16 continues to drop down the standings (currently 5th), #63 has picked up a lap and now trails #39 White Lightning by two laps for tenth place.

176. TIME 11:40 - RUNNING - #43 in for driver change with Petty going in. #56 pits for fuel and intermediate tires. Leader #2 pits for fuel and tires. #68 rejoins the field from behind the wall. #63 pits for fuel only. SRPII-leader #21 pits for fuel and intermediate tires.
