Regarding Thursday's sessions and his first drive in the Ferrari 333 SP: "When I first got in the car I had a culture shock. This is my first time ina rear drive car in four years. It's very different, a different perspective and position...from left to right and front to back. The sensation is very different. It's taken me awhile for y senses to pick up everything. By the wet session when it was damp and we were on slicks, I was pleased with that session. My senses got honed in. I'm not totally there yet, but I'm not far away. I have more time in me .By the race I'll be there. It was a very god day."
Regarding returning to the Risi Competizione Ferrari team for Daytona: "It's good to be back. It's been a year and everyone fits in as if it was yesterday. That's the strong part of our team, it's the same people doing the same jobs. That takes away some of the surprise. The Ferrari is a similar d rive to last year. We're quite confident for the race. We hope th weather will be as good as the car."
Eric van de Poele:
Regarding returning to the Risi Competizione Ferrari team for Daytona: "They say it is again the last time for the Ferrari. We will work very hard, 110%, to achieve a good result. We want the car to be in the front at the end. It is like a dream, although no dream is realistic in racing. We hope luck will be wth us, that we make no mistakes and that everything is okay. We have the best package."
Regarding qualifying the #12 Risi Competizione Ferrari 333 SP: "The later lap made the whole difference. There was so much traffic early. I even got hit. I know John (McLoughlin - Team Engineer and co-owner) is not keen on trying to get a fastest lap for the 24 Hours, and we only had a certain amount of fuel and tires. We had to plan wisely. The last 10-15 minutes many cars came in and I got a good, fast lap. I tried again for another fast lap but I had to overtake another car and just couldn't get another lap in."
Regarding Turn One at the start of the race tomorrow:
"It will be no problem. I believe our pace will be slower than Weaver, but we'll be close behind. Our team and the Dyson team are both very reliable and even. There's a lot of trouble out there though.
Regarding the expected final U.S. professional race for the Ferrari 333 SP:
"It's very sad really. When I think about it, it makes me sentimental. We talked about it the other night when we were all having dinner..thinking this will be the last time we will probably sit here like this as a team. If we are lucky this weekend, maybe someone will dig the Ferrari out again next year for the 24 Hours."
