Ricky Taylor claims another pole at New Jersey Motorsports Park
John Edwards takes the Stevenson Camaro to the GT pole
Ricky Taylor must like the Millville track as for the second year in a row he turns the fastest lap in the SunTrust Racing Corvette to capture the pole for Sunday’s Grand-Am Rolex Series race. His lap of 1 minute, 15.091 seconds for a speed of 107.869 mph on the 14 turn New Jersey road course.
“I put a lot of pressure on myself coming into this one,” commented Taylor. “I put a lot of time into looking at data, looking at what Max is doing and what I’m doing, and I tried to put it all together in qualifying.”
The “Red Dragon” Corvette of Bob Stallings Racing starts in second.
John Edwards put his Stevenson Motorsports Camaro on the GT pole with a lap of 1:21.834. This is his first race since suffering a skiing injury. “It was really tough to sit out two races,” said Edwards. His time was a half second quicker than the effort by Sylvain Tremblay in the SpeedSource Mazda.
The green flag for the race will wave at 1 p.m. EDT on Sunday.
