DALLAS, TEXAS -- March 21, 2006 -- GAINSCO Auto Insurance, a provider of personal auto insurance and primary sponsor of the No. 99 Blackhawk Motorsports Pontiac Riley Daytona Prototype, announced today that it will be the title sponsor of Round 7 of the 2006 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve at Phoenix International Raceway, May 12-13, 2006.
The GAINSCO Grand Prix weekend, billed as the fastest three days in Phoenix, will feature two Grand-Am Cup races, the GT Live motorsports entertainment exhibition, and the feature event: the Rolex Series GT and Daytona Prototype race at 7:00 pm local time on Saturday night, May 13.

With 25 entries, the 250-mile Rolex Series race at PIR will be more competitive than ever before. The 2006 field features legendary names from all areas of motorsports: Gurney, Fernandez, Fittipaldi, La Joie, Pruett, and Wallace, among others. Thousands of fans will watch the world's most talented drivers vie for the GAINSCO trophy at speeds of over 185 mph in their exotic Daytona Prototypes, battling each other around the 1.5 mile road course for 166 laps under the lights and cool desert sky.
Television coverage of the GAINSCO Grand Prix begins at 3:00pm Eastern Time on Sunday, May 14 (tape delay) on SPEED Channel.
