Battery Tender - MCM Racing Montreal 200 Preview
Coming off the teams' best finish of the 2009 racing season, having run well each session and consistently in the Top-10 during the race at Watkins Glen, the Battery Tender-MCM Racing team is looking forward to this weekends' round at the Montreal 200. Aside from the result, the team is very proud to have helped Watkins Glen race sponsor Hillside Children's Center raise over $7,000 via donations based on the amount of laps completed. Team Owner Matt Connolly states; "I find it to be very satisfying that not only do we get a strong result that my team, drivers and sponsors really have fought very hard for all season long, but to be involved with such a great cause and helping the kids of Hillside along the way provided us all with the feeling like we just won the race."
The driver pairing of Diego Alessi and Montreal native Chris Green looks to be poised for another strong run this weekend. This being Green's home circuit, and Alessi having finished on the podium at Montreal just a season ago in the #21 Pontiac GTO-R entry, the entire team is upbeat about what 'could be' for this round of the 2009 Grand-Am Rolex Series season.
Joining Battery Tender and P1 Groupe as team sponsors for the Montreal round are local Canadian-based companies McKibbins Irish Pub and Hardent, Inc. Of the event, series and team newcomer, Chris Green exudes "It's a great opportunity for me to race in front of my home fans and being born and raised in Montreal really helps at an event like this, the local fans know who the local drivers are and are very supportive, we get a huge charge of energy from their passion for the sport."
Green has competed successfully in the Skip Barber Dodge Pro Series, won the Hankook FF1600 Championship and holds numerous championships in karting. Chris has received a vast amount of support from the Canadian press and motor sports professionals as one of the country's future stars of the sport. In 2006 Green competed in and was a finalist in Discovery Channel's Star Racer reality series.
