SunTrust Team Qualifies on the Front Row for Mont-Tremblant 6-Hour Race

Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada (May 20, 2005) --The No. 10 SunTrust Pontiac Riley team qualified second for tomorrow's 6 Heures de Circuit Mont-Tremblant Grand American race. Today's 15-minute qualifying session proved to be a very tight showdown between eventual polesitter Scott Pruett in the No. 01 CompUSA Lexus Riley and Max Angelelli in the No. 10 SunTrust Pontiac Riley Mk.XI. Pruett clocked a time of 1:29.972 at 106.033 mph against Angelelli's 1:29.991 time at 106.011 mph, a .019 second margin.

Max Angelelli:

Regarding the qualifying times: "It was pretty close. When it is that close, it's tough to digest. So, I definitely could do better. The car is good. I just could do better. When I look forward to the race, I have to be good enough for the race. If it's a clear race, I think we will be there."

Regarding the race being a 6-hour race: "Everybody needs to have patience, a lot of patience, and wait when necessary, because the race is long. I hope to be one of the people that have a lot of patience. So, I'm going to try that."

Wayne Taylor:

Regarding qualifying: "The team did a good job. We were on the top of the charts all day. Max did well to qualify second. We're looking forward to a good race."

Bill Riley:

Regarding qualifying: "We had a solid run and unfortunately missed the pole by .019 seconds, which is extremely close. We are up there with the 01 car. We should have a pretty good run tomorrow."

Friday Practice Session #1: Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli continued to tweak the set-up with the team. Their fastest time was a 1:29.997 at 106.004 mph, the quickest of the morning session, which was pulled out on the final lap by Angelelli.

Friday Practice Session #2: Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli both practiced again. Their fastest time was a 1:30.088 at 105.896 mph, second fastest of the session.

The 6 Hueres du Mont-Tremblant, round five of the 2005 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series, will be televised live at 11:00 a.m. ET on Saturday, May 21st at on Speed Channel. Current weather predictions are for a 60% chance of showers for tomorrow's race, possibly adding to what already is expecting to be a very exciting race.
