Buffalo, NY, May 17, 2005 -- Driving the Porsche GT3 car of Phoenix Promotions for Team Sahlen will be 17-year old Buffalo native, Eric Lux.
"I'm thrilled to be racing once again for Phoenix Promotions." states Eric Lux. Who at 17 years of age will be driving with Joe Nonnamaker, owner of the team.
"I hope that my performance this season will lead to a professional ride for the '06 season."
Lux's accomplishments for 2005 have included a top 10 finish in the Rolex 24 Hours and a top 15 finish in the Grand-Am Cup 200, both during the Daytona Grand Am Series in February.
Racing at Road Atlanta in the HSR Series, Lux received two podium finishes, along with four top five finishes. This, combined with a podium finish at Sebring in HSR, has given Lux a respectable and even, envious driver profile.
Since April 2004, when Eric began racing in HSR, he has had eight top three finishes, as well as two top five finishes and one top-10 finish in 12 race starts. He is the youngest driver ever to race in HSR, and he was awarded the HSR "Corner Workers' Choice" Award for excellence in driving at VIR.
Lux's racing career began with karting at the age of 11, and he has raced in the U.S. and in Canada. He races a World Formula kart and a 125cc Shifter kart, and has had 84 kart race starts. He has won numerous year-end regional championships, including a 1st and 3rd in 2001, 1st and 2nd in 2002, 2nd in 2003 and two 3rd places in 2004.
Lux comes from a racing family. Mimi Lux, his mother raced in the IMSA Firestone Firehawk series and his father, Chris Lux, also a former IMSA driver, co-drives with his son in the Historic Sportscar Racing ("HSR") series. They race a 1975 Porsche 911 RSR 3.8L and a 1973 Porsche 911 RSR 3.0L. "Eric's passion for racing continues to grow, and we are excited to see how well he is doing," said Mrs. Lux.
Besides school and preparing for races, Lux is also an accomplished freestyle snowboarder who has obtained over 26 top three finishes since he started competing in1998. During the winter, he is a snowboard instructor at HoliMont, in Ellicottville, N.Y.
