The suspension failure on the leading GT class No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche GT3 car proved to be terminal for the 2013 running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona race. Just shy of the twenty-and-one-half hour mark, MOMO NGT Owner/Team Manager Ramez Wahab officially retired the car. The suspension damage was too great to sustain the car to the end of the twice-around-the-clock endurance race. An impressive effort at repairs and spirit by the team was not enough to take the popular MOMO team to the finish.
All four drivers, Henrique Cisneros, Sean Edwards, Patrick Pilet and Kuba Giermaziak, drove a near flawless race until the unexpected suspension damaged occurred prior to the 19-hour mark.
“Overall, I think the team did a fantastic job. We’ve shown that we were the fastest car out there. We had the best car out there. We’ve been working very hard in the last year, and specifically in endurance racing, to compete in world-class 24 hour races, such as Daytona. You can’t say enough about the team and how strong we were out there.
"Unfortunately, Lady Luck was not with us today. We had a suspension failure that no one could have predicted. Up until then, the car did not have scratch on it. Every driver did their job exactly how they were supposed to and we were going for the win. It’s very disappointing, but in the end, we are all leaving with our heads held up, knowing that we did a fantastic job and we’ll be back for next year.”
