4.30.09 Millville, NJ - The Farnbacher Loles Racing team will have a new face in the driver's seat at this weekend's Verizon Wireless 250 at Thunderbolt Raceway in Millville, NJ. Bryan Sellers of Atlanta, GA will be co-driving with Eric Lux of Jacksonville, FL. Lux's regular co-driver Wolf Henzler, is off racing in Europe. Team principal Gregory Loles spoke of the change. "Actually Bryan and I have been talking for quite some time about getting him into one of our cars. He's a very talented driver and has proven his ability in races across the globe. While Wolf has very big shoes to fill, we know Bryan will give us a great effort. Hopefully this will be the start of an ongoing relationship with Bryan and our team."
For the team, this is a homecoming of sorts. "Our primary race shop is located in Atlanta, but the company was founded in the Northeast," said Loles. "Our corporate headquarters and service facility are located about an hour north of Manhattan in Connecticut. So we have a very strong presence and a considerable number of clients in the tri-state area. Like last year, a lot of our fans will be in attendance at the race, especially Porsche Club of America members. With the Rolex series skipping Lime Rock this year, this is the closest race for most of them."
"We're hoping the cooler temperatures and conditions will allow the Porsches to be more competitive. At VIR we clearly had no chance to compete for the podium."
Just as they did at VIR, the Farnbacher Loles Racing team will have two Grand-Am spec Porsche GT3 Cup cars in the Thunderbolt Raceway round of the Grand-Am Rolex series. The #86 Porsche will be driven by Lux and Sellers, while the #87 Porsche will be piloted by Leh Keen of Charleston, SC and Dirk Werner of Kissenbruck, Germany. Keen and Werner had the highest finishing Porsche at last week's race in Virginia, just missing the podium with a fourth place result. They were closely followed across the line by Lux and Henzler's #86, which finished in fifth. Lux is excited about the race, "I'm looking forward to racing at Thunderbolt once again after we had a strong fifth place finish there last season. I have heard that the track has had major updates since our last visit; I am excited to see the improvements. Last weekend Farnbacher Loles prepared an awesome car so I believe that we will have a presence at the front of the pack!
