Lime Rock Park
SECOND PODIUM OF THE SEASON FOR MIKE FOREST
Lakeville, Connecticut – Mike Forest scored his second podium in five races this memorial weekend at the Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park. The Canadian finished third after qualifying his #8 Miracle Grout Shield / Dynacor Media / Ford Riley Daytona Prototype in the seventh spot on the grid for the fifth round of the 2011 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series.
Forest and teammate Ryan Dalziel managed to climb through the field during the 2h45min race, and while their competitors had trouble dealing with the grueling Memorial Day heat, the Starworks Motorsports teammates and their #8 machine stayed cool throughout the day and once again showed that they are a forced to be reckoned with in the GRAND-AM paddock.
At the start of the race Forest had to avoid early trouble in the tight 1.5-mile, 7-turn road course and after pitting for an early splash of fuel during a caution he immediately started working his way up the charts during his stint. He completed a total of 64 laps and then turned the controls over to Dalziel while running in the top five. Dalziel continued the steady climb through the ranks and took the checkered flag in third. This marked the second podium of the season for the Starworks Motorsports duo and sets the stage for what should be a successful and busy summer stretch in the Rolex Sports Car Series.
There will be little rest for Forest as he heads directly to Watkins Glen International where the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen will be held this Saturday.

“We are feeling pretty good, the two races we’ve finished we have been on the podium so that just goes to show that we are pretty strong and now we just have to stay out of trouble and the rest of the year should be very positive for us. We’ve worked out a lot of the kinks and have gotten a grasp of the tires so I’m confident that we’ll just keep having better and better cars as the season goes on.
The team did a great job with strategy at Lime Rock, we weren’t necessarily the quickest car out there but we worked with our fuel mileage and with our pit stops, and also managed to keep cool while other guys were dealing with the heat and that made a big difference. Now we need to take this momentum and carry it over to the Glen, we only have a couple of days in between which should be great because I can’t wait to get back in the car and keep getting more podiums!”
