Mid-Season Action Heats Up at Mid-Ohio for CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing
Lexington, OH, August 5th, 2004 -- After a month long mid-season break, the CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Grand American Sports Car team is rested and geared up to extend its lead in the Rolex Series Championship. The second half of the season begins with this Saturday's EMCO Gears Mid-Ohio Road Racing Classic in Lexington, Ohio, a 250-mile (111-laps) 2 ¾ -- hour time limit sprint race on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Daytona Prototype No. 01 Lexus Riley co-drivers Scott Pruett and Max Papis, have finished inside the top-two positions in each of the past four races, highlighted by back-to-back victories in the 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant and the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen. Led by driver Scott Pruett, who owns four poles in four qualifying attempts this season, the No. 01 has started from the pole position in five of six races. As a result, the CompUSA duo holds an 11-point advantage (183-172) over No. 10 car co-pilots Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli heading into Mid-Ohio.
Their CompUSA teammates, No. 02 Lexus Riley drivers Jimmy Morales and Luis Diaz, may still be looking for their first win of the season but have shown that they can run at the front with the leaders in nearly every race this season, and have climbed onto the podium with a solid third place finish at "Six Hours of the Glen".
CompUSA, which sponsors the both team Lexus-Rileys, put a unique program in place to promote the EMCO Gears Mid-Ohio Road Racing Classic. Four Columbus-area CompUSA stores are offering free tickets to the race for customers who purchase any Belkin, AMD or Cisnet product. The stores are located in the New Market Mall at 1-270 and Sawmill, the Easton Market Shopping Center, the Great Northern Shopping Center in North Olmstead, and in The Shops of Fairlawn.
