Bill Auberlen's international commute paid off on Saturday night, as he cruised to a record sixth-consecutive GT-class victory in the Rolex Sports Car Series. The win broke a 10-way tie among drivers who had earned five consecutive victories during five seasons of Rolex Series competition.

Auberlen, of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., has been working both sides of the Canada - U.S. border this week, competing in the Rolex Series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, and in the Speed World Challenge Touring Car Championship at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ont.

His record race was flawless. Auberlen started the No. 21 BMW M3 from the GT pole position, gained a lap on most of the class early in the two-hour 45-minute race and held the margin through his double stint. Justin Marks of Chico, Calif., took over at 2h18 and took the checkered flag more than a lap ahead of the second-place GT finisher.

"It was an awesome job by everyone on the team," Auberlen said. "The car was perfect and everything worked exactly to plan. It feels great!"

Auberlen immediately started another race - back to Canada on a fast air charter to be ready for Sunday's race.
