ASC Motorsports Corvette Excels at Mid-Ohio
Tiffin, Ohio -- June 30, 2006 The ASC Motorsports Corvette C6 driven by Zach Arnold of Tiffin, Ohio and Jason Workman of Flowery Branch, Georgia teamed up to earn an 11th place GT class finish in the Grand Am Rolex Sports car Series race at the historic Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The results do not reflect the superb showing of the team at Mid-Ohio as the car ran as high as 6th place in the latter stages of the 2 3/4 hour race before being nudged into a spin late in the race. With the highly competitive GT class running closely together, several cars were able to get by despite a quick recovery by Arnold, who drove the second half of the race after Workman started the event.
Other than the spin, the only complication occurred mid-way through the event when a refueling problem caused a long pit stop, but the crew quickly identified the problem and got the Corvette back on the track. >From that point on, Workman and Arnold were able to move through the field and toward the front, reaching sixth place before the unfortunate contact and the resulting spin.
The crew did a great job working on the setup during practice and improving the car's balance, despite working through a series of storms that damaged several track facilities and ruined some of the team's equipment. Race day saw perfect racing weather and a well-balanced race car. On this sunny, warm day in central Ohio, the ASC Motorsports team displayed its tremendous potential.
The next race on the ASC Motorsports schedule has not yet been determined, but the race dates will be publicized on the team's website at ascmotorsports.com as soon as they become available.
The ASC Motorsports Corvette C6 was designed and built by Arnold Machine, Inc. in Tiffin, Ohio. Gressman Powersports in Fremont, Ohio builds and maintains the team's LS6 engines.
