ASC Motorsports Prepares for Home Race at Mid-Ohio

Tiffin, Ohio - August 16, 2005 ASC Motorsports of Tiffin, Ohio is making final preparations for the August 25-27 EMCO Gears Classic at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. This very special event will be the team's first home race in the Rolex Grand American Sports Car Series.

Owner/driver Zach Arnold of Tiffin, Ohio and Trans-Am stalwart Johnny Miller from Johnson City, Tennessee will again share the driving duties in the team's Prep 2 Corvette C5 for the 400 kilometer (248 miles) twilight race.

Arnold came up through the go-kart ranks and gained valuable experience in regional sportscar racing. He also drove in several races in the 2004 Grand Am Cup series prior to entering the Rolex Grand Am series for 2005.

Miller had outstanding results in the Trans Am series in cars very similar to the ASC Motorsports Corvette. Miller made his Trans-Am debut at the Mid-Ohio round in 1994 and finished in the top four in points in 2001 and 2002 and finished second in 2003. Most recently, he finished a very respectable 29th in the NASCAR Nextel Cup race at Watkins Glen on the same weekend he co-drove the ASC Motorsports Corvette to a 15th place finish in the Rolex Grand Am race.

In its first year of operation, the team has steadily improved over the course of the season. The all-volunteer crew, nearly all from the Tiffin area and led by crew chief Nick Silardi, has shown remarkable results in preparing the race car for each event, in making setup changes between practice sessions that have consistently moved the #55 Corvette up the speed charts, and in making very quick pit stops during the races.

The 250 mile twilight race takes place at 5:30 PM (EDT) on Saturday, August 27th. It will be televised on a tape-delayed basis by Speed Channel Sunday, August 28th at Noon (EDT).
