Michael Shank Racing announces new partner
Daytona, Florida (3 February 05)- Team owner Mike Shank announced today that Graydon Elliott Capital Corporation has joined the team as an associate sponsor for the 2005 season. Based outside of Vancouver, British Columbia, Graydon Elliott specializes in a wide range of financial advisory and investment banking services and products. The rapidly expanding company will be utilizing its connection to the Michael Shank Racing team to continue its growth in the future.
"This is a very exciting announcement for us to be making," said award-winning team owner Mike Shank. "Graydon Elliott Capital is joining us at the associate level on the 6 car, and we are looking forward to developing this relationship moving forward. Having our first season of Grand American competition under our belt, we are now working on our long-term plans for growth, and this partnership is going to be an important part of our future success."
Graydon Elliott Capital, recently recognized as 'Best New Business of the Year,' has expanded in less then two years from a two-employee organization to having three offices across Canada and thirty employees. The investment services firm plans on continuing its rapid development plans which includes expansion into the US and sees its relationship with Michael Shank Racing and Grand American racing as an avenue to create new opportunities for the future.
"We are a Canadian-based, national firm, but we are looking to expand our investment banking and wealth management divisions into the US in 2005. After extensive research into several different racing series, we saw this opportunity with Michael Shank Racing as our best means of building a presence within motor sports and in the US marketplace," Graydon Elliott President & CEO Rodney Gelineau said.
"The growth potential of the series, the commitment from the sponsors and organizers as well as the positive culture of the Shank team and within the paddock is an excellent fit for our firm," he added.
Graydon Elliot Capital will be working with the Shank team to facilitate and expand Graydon Elliott's motor sport program with a rapidly evolving three-year plan.
For Michael Shank Racing, the new partnership is an important building block for the team, which has thrived in the Rolex paddock after a long history of successful campaigns in open-wheel racing.
"I very happy about the decision I made just over a year ago committing my team to racing in the Rolex Sports Car Series, and I am looking forward to continued growth of the series," said Shank. "This new partnership is going to help us as we work toward the future."
The 14-race Rolex Sports Car Series season will get underway with the 43rd running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona on February 5-6.
Michael Shank Racing was formed in 1989 when Michael Shank first began driving racing cars professionally, taking the award as SCCA-Ohio Valley Region's Novice Driver of the Year.
