The No. 11 CITGO Racing by SAMAX entry will start 20th on the 37-car grid for the Rolex Sports Car Series race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City on Saturday. Milka Duno qualified the Pontiac-powered Riley Mk XI with a lap time of one minute 25.581 seconds on the 2.5-mile road course. She will drive the first stint of the two-hour 45-minute race, followed by her co-driver Marino Franchitti.

"We came to Mexico with a new car and have had to work to get the car in shape," Duno said. "However, given this and the short amount of track time, I am very happy with my qualifying lap. The CITGO/SAMAX team is working really well; the car is better in each session. I am looking forward to a good race tomorrow."

at altitude

Marino Franchitti trains hard to maximize his performance in the CITGO/'SAMAX Riley. He has eased off his pre-season training regimen of three workouts per day, but still logs an intense daily workout. He arrived in Mexico City early this week to get acclimated to the high altitude of 7400 feet. The first two days of track time were okay, but he knows the real test will come in Saturday's race.

"I came in Monday evening so I had a day to work out in the gym and do some swimming," he said. "I don't seem to notice it in the car, but I haven't done more than four laps in a row. I'm sure tomorrow, 15 laps into my stint, it will start getting really difficult. It's a bit into the unknown, but I feel great right now."

Xplod

It was announced this week that Milka Duno will become the spokesperson for Sony Latin America's Xplod product line. As part of her contribution to Sony, Duno will visit several countries in Latin America to promote Xplod products.

"It is a great honor for me to represent Sony's Xplod brand of automobile electronic products in Latin America. I love listening to music when I'm in the car, and now I can take it to the limit! It is a thrill to work with the Sony Latin America team and to get to know their dealers and customers," she said.
