Eddie Cheever drove during the hour-long Final Practice, and he will Qualify the car.

EDDIE CHEEVER - Driver
"We put on new tires this morning, and it improved a lot. These are the only miles in anger we've run with the Porsche engine. We are getting more and more comfortable with the car."

The alternator problem from yesterday has been fixed. I'm glad it happened yesterday, not today.

Q-DOES WEATHER, PARTICULARLY THE WIND, AFFECT YOUR DRIVING?

A-"Yes. Here at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez there are two long straights. Each straight has the wind coming from a different direction. The wind could get under the car's nose and it could make a difference.

Eddie Cheever qualified the car during the fifteen-minute session for Daytona Prototypes.

EDDIE CHEEVER - Driver
"The car was a bit loose, and the back end came around. We're still learning the electronics on the new Porsche engine. We're making a lot of progress, and we hope to make more progress tomorrow.

The Porsche is a little engine and smaller motors have to breathe more. It really struggles here in Mexico City with no oxygen. It's 7200 feet above sea level.

We wanted a Top Ten and we got into the Top Ten. We're happy where we are.

DAVE MEEHAN - Team Manager
"Things went well."
