MCM Rolex 24 at Daytona Enters Porsche with new lineup
Team Owner Matt Connolly pursued the 2009 offseason in preparation for the upcoming 2010 season in aggressive style. His team completely stripped their #20 Porsche and #21 Pontiac down and started from scratch by completely freshening every last part of each of their two cars. The team is so focused on a positive outcome that they are going as far as adding a third entry to the fold for Daytona, which will be announced shortly. As Crew Chief Lee Burch stated; "We're putting every resource we have at our disposal to fill the podium at Daytona from the top step to the bottom."
For the #31 MCM Porsche 997 entry, the team has brought on a lineup that will certainly fight for that top step with four European drivers that are very familiar with not only the Porsche platform, but also winning in 24 hour races all over the world. Those drivers include Finnish driver Markus Palttala, Dutch drivers Jos Menten and Oskar Slingerland and French driver Christophe Lapierre. Oskar Slingerland states; "To get the opportunity to race in one of the greatest events in all of racing on the mythical Daytona circuit is a real privilege, and to be doing so with this line-up in a Porsche really has me looking forward to seeing just what we can do against some of the best competition in racing."
"I'm very happy with the competitive package we have put together with MCM and all the drivers. I've started 17 different 24 hour races in my career, but this will be my first 24 hours of Daytona" mentions Palttala. This will also be the first ever race in the States for 2009 Spa 24 winner Menten who is equally excited "I'm very happy to be part of this team, I think we have all the right ingredients to put on a great result with a little luck on our side."
For many racers they've grown up looking at all the famous drivers that have won that watch at Daytona, all the great car manufacturers that have hoisted that famed trophy and that is no different for Lapierre; "To take part in the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona is a childhood dream coming true. This lineup of drivers only makes that all the more pleasing as we know what this combination can bring for a positive result."
Making this all possible was the assembly of an equally impressive lineup of sponsors in Bischoff + Scheck Service GmbH, OFI Asset Management, Avra Towage, Voskamp Groep, North Sea Petroleum, Jos Menten Metaalrecycling, and P1 Groupe.
