Marsal looking for redemption at the ‘Yard of Bricks’
Michael Marsal and Tonis Kasemets currently sit sixth in the driver championship, with four top-10 finishes to date.
INDIANAPOLIS – Michael Marsal is set for another busy race weekend as GRAND-AM stages Round 7 of Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) competition at the fabled Indianapolis Motor Speedway this Friday (Broadcast: SPEED, August 3 at 4:00 PM ET).
Marsal will team with Tonis Kasemets in the Multimatic Motorsports No. 71 Aston Martin Vantage for the Brickyard Sports Car Challenge. The duo currently sit sixth in the driver championship, with four top-10 finishes to date. This Friday will see Marsal looking for redemption at the ‘Yard of Bricks’ after a very disappointing CTSCC debut last year in which an electrical issue on his No. 97 BMW saw his day end early, with just two laps completed. Marsal and Kasemets are fresh off of the pair’s run to seventh at Watkins Glen after the duo fought back from a tough blow to the championship aspirations at Mid-Ohio. The Multimatic effort has shown promise through the year but Marsal is eager to rejoin a GRAND-AM podium once again, especially at an iconic track like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“Last year, this was one of the worst race weekends of the year so I’m looking forward to getting the chance to come back and race there again this week,” said Marsal. “The guys had a lot of work to do after Mid-Ohio, so it was good to have a solid day at Watkins Glen. Hopefully we can build on that at Indy and kick off the next few races with a good result.”
The condensed two-day schedule will see two very action packed days for Marsal. Thursday opens with practice and qualifying for CTSCC. Friday will see the 2.5-hour Brickyard Sports Car Challenge event begin at 2:00 PM (ET).
