DIAZ DELIVERS COMPUSA TEAM TOP-THREE START FOR ROAD & TRACK 250

MONTEREY, Calif. (April 30, 2005) -- For the second-straight round in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series, CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates driver Luis Diaz qualified the team's no.01 CompUSA Lexus-Riley in the top three in preparation for tomorrow's inaugural Road &Track 250 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

When Diaz last took the Lexus-powered Daytona Prototype out in qualifying trim, it resulted in the Mexican native's first career pole at Fontana. Diaz nearly backed that effort up with his second straight pole today after touring Laguna Seca's 2.238-mile stretch of Monterey, California countryside in 1:24.649 (95.179 mph), but was dropped to third as time expired in the 15-minute qualifying session.

"The car was decent, but I think we could've been better," said Diaz, who with teammate Scott Pruett will look to come out of the two-race California swing with the points lead. "We were fighting a condition in which the car was loose upon entry, tight through the middle of the corner, then loose on the exit. Fortunately I have a strong team behind me and I'm sure the CompUSA guys will figure it out before the race tomorrow."

Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Cort Wagner and Stefan Johansson qualified a season-best fourth in the Daytona Prototype class in the no.02 New Century Mortgage Lexus-Riley with a top time of 1:24.719 (95.100 mph).

Fans of CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates can catch the no.01 CompUSA Lexus-Riley in action at the Road & Track 250 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca tomorrow at 3:00 pm ET (LIVE, SPEED Channel).
