Kevin Doran Pleased with Test of New Daytona Prototype.

Kevin Doran put the new Toyota-powered Doran JE4 through its paces last week at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and is set to debut the bright red car at Friday's Bully Hill Vineyards 250 at Watkins Glen International.

"The test went fine," Doran said. "The car ran around all day, and we didn't have any trouble. While we were not blindingly fast, I felt we were running competitive times. There were no other Daytona Prototypes testing, so we have no reference times for that day, but I felt we were running what would be a competitive race pace. However, it's still too early to tell how competitive we will be."

Didier Theys and John Fergus shared seat time during the test. Theys will be joined by Fredy Lienhard in the 250-mile event on The Glen's 2.45-mile short course.

Bell Motorsports has fielded the first Doran JE4 in Rolex Series competition this season. Drivers Terry Borcheller and Forest Barber have piloted the Chevy-powered Doran JE4 to three victories so far this season.

Doran is well underway with his third Daytona Prototype and is in the early stages of construction of his fourth and fifth cars.

Practice and qualifying for the Bully Hill Vineyards 250 at The Glen will be held on Thursday, August 7. The race will get underway following NASCAR Winston Cup Series qualifying on Friday, August 8. Tickets to the Bully Hill Vineyards 250, as well as the entire NASCAR Winston Cup SIRIUS at The Glen event weekend, are available online at www.theglen.com.
