Daytona Beach, Fl -- On lap 544 early Sunday morning, Jim Michaelian walked away from the first major accident of the Rolex 24 race at Daytona International Speedway. Michaelian will be given a complete check-up a the Speedway's Medical Center.

The Seal Beach, California driver lost it going into West Horseshoe (turn three) cut across the infield grass brushing a tire wall before crashing heavily through a guardrail with a hard landing onto driver's side of the Porsche GT3 RS.

The Racers Group No. 68 (team car to the overall leader) appeared to carry the speed from the track leaving many to believe a possible brake failure. The team was in 12th position overall sixth in the GT class.

Medical Update: 8:10 a.m.

Michaelian was checked and released from the infield care center. He had no injuries.
